Feeding Hope Through Charitable Giving

During the past year, many companies have been forced to re-evaluate how they operate, connect with the world and conduct business. In these unexpected times, spurred in large part by a global pandemic, most of us have come to rely heavily on technology and to redefine the word “office,” and EnableComp is no exception. Much of our workforce remains remote, and our interactions are primarily taking place over video calls.

Giving back to our communities is a key part of our culture here, and though our work environment has changed, our passion for service has not.

For this year’s first quarter local outreach project, we chose to support Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee through a virtual food drive, an organization whose mission is to feed hungry people and work to solve hunger issues in our community. It’s estimated that over 950,000 people struggle with hunger on any given day in Tennessee, and 267,000 of those people are children. In early 2020, the “novel coronavirus (COVID-19) began… an economic recession that ended years of declining rates of food insecurity – the lack of access to sufficient food because of limited financial resources” [1]. It is clear that now, our help is more critical than ever.

Our employees used social media to broadcast the issue of hunger in our area, brought in canned goods to our offices to donate, and raised funds online. We even broke into teams and had a little fun in the spirit of competition. At the end of the quarter, together, we raised $8,280 for this meaningful cause. This means that we provided more than 33,000 meals for hungry people in Tennessee!

We are so excited for the opportunity to support Second Harvest and to demonstrate just what it means to live by the Core Values which define who we are and how we act at EnableComp. Continuing to empower and engage team members in a hybrid work model is crucial to our success, and giving back is not only a testament to the philanthropic culture we have fostered here, but is also a reflection of the incredible people that make up EnableComp. We are hungry to make a big difference and are proud to start by helping others.
